Five reasons to always have cheese at home!

Why keep cheese at home? Simply because we love it and can’t imagine meals without it. That’s probably all the reason we need, but we’ve put together 5 reasons you might not have thought of before.

Everything is better with cheese

For us, it’s an eternal truth that while a little cheese can make simple meals look delicious, it can also make delicious snacks feel divine and special dishes simply sublime. Eaten cold, it adds flavour to any sandwich or salad, while for hot dishes, softly melting cheese adds extra texture and makes them silky smooth and creamy.

And for those who think cheese is only good in savoury dishes, you’ll have to open your eyes to the fact that it can also be used to make fantastic desserts.

A lifesaver in case of unexpected guests

When unexpected guests drop by, cheese is the answer, with an endless array of quick and easy recipes for our favourite dish!

Dazzle your visitors with a fantastically creamy, melt-in-your-mouth, chilli-rosemary roasted camembert, topped with a little bacon or even a few nuts to taste. Feel free to dip tortillas, crackers or fresh vegetable slices into the hot cheese while enjoying a tasty conversation.

For something lighter, a veggie and cheese snack is a great option. No cooking required, these showy snacks can be made in a short time using just a cucumber and cream cheese.

For the really lazy but more gourmet host, Ile de France Apérifrais cheeses are just the thing to take out of the fridge and serve up a fresh cheese speciality with a special seasoning! Bon appétit!

Snack only gently

Our favourite cheese can not only be served at main meals, but can also be a great snack between meals or just to treat ourselves to a few tasty bites.

If you’re already good with cheese and want to put something exciting on the table, make a cheese platter with some great classics and a few specialities. Fresh buffalo mozzarella or burratta from Campagna are becoming increasingly easy to come by, so get the range started. Where many people like soft cheeses, it’s worth including not just camembert or brie, but also a red-mould cheese and a washed rind cheese like French époisses, for example. And for semi-hard cheeses, a good choice might be French comté or gruyère, which the Swiss are justifiably proud of.

Cheese is healthy

Cheese can be part of a balanced diet, and it can also be easily incorporated into a diet.

A study has shown that regular consumption of 40 grams of cheese a day can reduce the risk of stroke by up to 10 per cent and the risk of developing heart disease by 14 per cent. It is also a healthy choice because of its high calcium and protein content. And its protein content makes it a great post-workout snack, including a tasty cheese salad that only takes a few ingredients and a few minutes to make.

Not a day goes by without cheese

Finally, what better reason to always have cheese in the home than that you simply can’t go a day without eating some form of your favourite.

Not only can you put it on a sandwich for breakfast, but it’s also great in an omelette or even a de omelette.

For lunch you can always have a delicious cheese soup or a simple but great cheese pasta, and for lunch a heavenly camembert cheese snail.
Just as the approaching Christmas is unthinkable without a family get-together, so too is it impossible not to always have at least one box of your favourite cheese at home.
